My first ever few strands of saffron. A renegade bulb had flowered early. There are another forty-odd yet to blossom.

About a kilo of toms, surprisingly a lot were from a 'Tomatoberry' that is still going good guns. I grew it as a novelty, but it has outperformed my expectations and they are delicious.
Also had up some turnips and celery, some red Marconi peppers, more cherry bomb chilli's some thai birdseye and something else - loads still to ripen. Got a lot of green peppers and various that are just starting to turn colour but I am going to have to watch them closely for rot.
Remembered to pick the LAST cucumber of 2014 and possibly the last courgette (though who can tell, they keep coming). While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

One bit of old folklore wisdom says to plant tomatoes when the soil is warm enough to sit on with bare buttocks. In surburban areas, use the back of your wrist. Jackie French
