      • Yesterday I put together two 'produce parcels' for my sons - potatoes, french beans, runner beans, cucumber, courgette, carrots, radicchio lettuce, iceberg lettuce and I gave them some onions and garlic from the 'haul' drying in the garage. Also a jar each of Andi&Di's courgette pickles. And they were pleased!

          • I'm sitting here at the end of my day, completely and utterly exhausted.
            You?
greencrystal of east midlands, my friend, we're all holding your hand, and just 'wishingi' those pests away for you right now. Not every bed is a bed of roses in life, obviously, but my Cabbagy plants used to get dead eaten by caterpillers, and then all of a sudden, a family of FlyCatcher Birds decided to come for breakfast, lunch and tea.

Shall I ask them to send their mates round to your place?
Try and be patient with the wildlife and avoid the quick-fix chemical options.
I promise you, in time, you'll be patting yourself on the back, and really enjoying the wonder of it all.
Especially knowing that what you've harvested (eventually!) is all yours.X

            • Runner, french and purple climbing beans, peas and tomatoes.
I also lifted the last of the maincrop potatoes, 9kg in all making a total of 20kg in an 8' by 4' raised bed. Not a bad crop at all.
