      • Rhubarb

2 kilos of rhubarb and now stewed down in my jam pan.

Lots more ready and I only picked the staks from one plant and still have another two plants to go at over the next few months.

With a bit of luck strawberies my be ready in 2 weeks time.

Why do salads seems so nice in the warm weather, yet seem to unappealing in the middle of winter

                • Exclusive free advice here on my 'What I Harvested Today' thread for anyone that doesn't yet know this trick:
You can buy 'Living Salad' in a number of reputable supermarkets these days, and there's a nifty trick, if you're not particularly a 'dab hand' at successional sowing of salad leaves.......

Take the living salad home. Take it out of the tray. Plant it into your own container, allow it to root into it for a while, and cut off the salad leaves as you need them from what grows in your pot. Simples.

99p in Lidl. Buy two or three on a fortnightly basis, alternate and replace as necessary, save yourself a fortune in salad bags, and if, like me, you like to grow CCA/Rocket/Corn Salad/Spinach/Chervil/Lovage/Sorrel/Beetroot and everything yourself as well, there's a unique and tasty salad at your fingertips every day.

                    • Sounds delicious!

I ate my first cutting of mixed lettuce leaves in a salad with my dinner tonight
I have eaten some pak choi already, but I bought them as seedlings... the salad leaves I grew from seed so feel more special... hehehe
I ate a viola flower the other day to see what it was like... I'm not sure I'm in a hurry to do that again, but maybe if it was IN a salad, not just on it's own.

                      • Picked the two first strawberries from the polytunnel (not heated).

I can't take any credit for them, they were grown by OH, but I enjoyed picking strawberries in April - and they were delicious.
