  • Yesterday, I picked 3 of the biggest, bestest Strawberries that were growing in my greenhouse, and I 'hot-footed' it up to Barbara The Egg Lady's place, not a mile up the road from here.
She eat one, I eat the other, and, her gorgeous husband, Derek, accepted the other from me with such an absolute twinkle in his eye that it brought a tear to mine (he is really very poorly with Alzheimers), and I hadn't seen either of them for nearly a whole year.
To cut a very long story short, I took her an onion, as a surprise gift (no, it's too long a jokey story to tell you now......I'll tell you later on the 'What I Did Today' thread, okay?) and she ended up giving me a pot of her homemade spiced cider-apple Jelly.

Anyway, I digress, I harvested Romanesco and Mangetout for dinner today, very green, very al-dente, and very scrumptious.....X

          • Strawberries, garlic, chard and coriander. Oh and some cherries from trees on a piece of wasteland nearby.

              • This evening, for the two of us, I harvested some very handsome Mangetout, which I have to give myself a big slap for, because I overcooked them.
                (Must try harder!)

                • 4 lovely baby fennel which I've always struggled to grow before, but now have a whole row of them, perfect with prawns in a risotto.

And don't forget to keep sowing to replace what you're harvesting. Really important that.... Where abouts do you live by the way? as if you ever need advice from the other forum members, it's useful to know. Good luck with the rest of your years' harvesting.
