    • Hubby and 2yr old dd emptied 1 pot of Rocket spuds today - not a vey big pot either and got just under 700g of potatoes from it which we are happy with for our 1st batch, we shoud be quids in with the potates as they were bought from poundland so our return will be worth more than our outlay. Also picked 10 tayberries - the 1st of the season with plenty more to hopefully follow

      • Thrilled - back from hols to find a few courgettes ready, which will go on the barbie later; and about eight full sized Red Basson lettuces - fab. Also a big tray of salad leaves. And the grass had been cut.

        • On Wednesday, I harvested more than 2kg of redcurrants (trying desperately to find ways of dealing with the excess at home and the second half of the bushes yet to be harvested!!). I also picked the first handful of peas and broad beans, which will be added to the thinnings from the pots of carrots from the garden with tonight's roast chicken dinner. I pulled a couple of red onions as well, as they are starting to bolt.

I am waiting until I get to the plot again some night this week for more spuds - they were fine to eat, but still ever so slightly watery 2 weeks ago, so when I get there again they should be good.

And we are also eating LOADS of salads - iceberg, cos, butterhead and lollo rosso lettuces are all flying!

          • A handful of sugar snap peas, some more broadies, new potatoes from tub (Nicola, I think) and three cabbages 'cos a butterfly made it under the enviromesh and the big green caterpillars were dining in style so we are having the hearts with our lamb tonight.

              • Potatoes!

my first earlies...at least I'm hoping that they are earlies - couldn't tell you what sort though...but they are pink!

The skins just scrubbed off though, and we're eating them tonight with a freshly picked garden salad.

But should I have waited til the flowers had come and gone?

                • Some mixed lettuce leaves, a few spring onions, Marketmore cucumber and a bucket of Pentland javelin potatoes.
All I'm short of is some tomatoes but up to yet they're still at the green stage.
