  • Runner beans, french beans, small handful of sugar snap peas (which didn't make it home as 6 year old found them first), courgette (just the one), some 2nd early potatoes (nicola), and blackberries from the plot, and greengages (delish!) from the garden. Will pick first sweetcorns of the year later for supper - can't wait!

            • Day before yesterday I harvested my onions. Now drying (ha, ha) on the rack outside the greenhouse. Nowhere near as good as last year's. Courgettes are doing well though, and tomatoes in the greenhouse.

              • Courgettes, courgettes, courgettes, courgettes and some beans.

Even my courgette loving DD is starting to get a little fed up with them all. "Can't we have them tomorrow instead?" she wailed last night, "we are.......as well" I replied, then gave an evil laugh.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

                  • New to the forums today - having a great time during my lunch reading all the posts.
Have been busy harvesting mostly salad stuff - installed a raised bed just for salad & herbs & it is fantastic - salad leaves, rocket, basil, chives, rosemary, tarragon (my favorite). Also digging up potatoes - recommend crushing them after par-boiling & then mixing with garlic & butter & roasting for 20-30 mins - absolutely gorgeous!!

                          • Andrea G, could we all know what part of the country, or the world, that you're growing in? Only because it helps all of the rest of us on the forum to understand things when you post up on various different threads needing help or advice, so that we can take that into account?

Myself......Well now... today, having noticed that there were kind of 'windfall' peaches and nectarines inside the greenhouse, a girl would be completely stupid to ignore unctious fruits just dropping off the tree, so I did go and gather up off the floor, and I did pick off the trees as well, and those semi-ripened ones are now being ripened in my kitchen with a very over-ripe banana beside them.

Largely having spent days in the kitchen 'glued' to the Rayburn now, preserving stuff till it comes out of my ears, I haven't begun to tell you a tenth of what we've mostly harvested every day, but it HAS been a goodly year for Bramley Apples.
Having got 13.5 kilos of them picked off the lower branches, where the young bullocks are tending to vent their testosterone and knock 'em off to the ground, I'm picking them up and juicing them straight away.

Having also witnessed 'first-hand' a bullock licking a whole branch of unripened plums the other day, I'm making a mental note to wash all harvested fruit 'like it was going out of fashion', and NO mistake!!

                            • Charlotte potatoes - 2 meals worth only but look good; enormous courgette (missed it last weekend) and a medium one (Romanesco); 8 Ancho chillis (apparently only 1 in 10 is hot, so I've reassured OH we should be OK, the 10th is still on the plant); dinner's worth of yellow french beans (Rocquencourt) and 2 really weird red sweet peppers (Nardello I think, look like long skinny chillis), 16 tomatoes and an overgrown cucumber...

rather a satisfactory weekend in terms of harvesting - less so for sowing, too wet!
