          • I didn't really harvest anything today, i'm still going to wait a couple of days before I harvest those delicious strawberries I planted .

            • A parsnip which I'd missed from last year's harvest. It had come back to life and was growing new leaves. I thought about waiting to see what would happen to it, but I roasted and ate it instead. Yum.

                • Had my first PSB yesterday, only 2 out of 7 plants survived the winter, but luckily one is a big plant, so we had enough for all of us to have a decent meal.
Not sure how much more we'll get though.

Digging up the remainder of the leeks today.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

                      • I adore being able to post up on this thread.....
.....But it struck me yesterday when I was cooking a meagre brekkie for Trousers, that it isn't just stuff out of the garden, because how else would you serve up homegrown cherry tomatoes at the end of March, tasting as beautiful as the day you picked them, if you hadn't of frozen them last summer?
Not smug. I just like to 'think ahead' and have some treats in the freezer for The Hungry Gap, and when you'd just LIKE a hint of the seasons ahead to tease you into the summer months.X

                          • Today, I mostly harvested Tuscan Kale that's about to flower, but managed to nip it in the bud for a good five meals or so up til now, and it is DElicious, like Purple Sprouting, but I've not got that growing this time around. I 'teamed it up' in the pan with wild garlic leaves and mini leeks, and served that lot with a red wine gravy, Paul Rankin Pork'n'Herb Sausages (85% pork, so the ONLY sausages I will buy to eat myself) and smashed potatoes.

                            • This morning I opened one of my 500ml Kilner Jars of preserved Raspberries that I bottled last year.
And personally, if I was clever enough to invent an advertising campaign along the lines of 'You've Been Tango'd'........I wouldn't be sitting here thinking about it.

Sorry, but those Raspberries blew my sox off. And that made me smile up to my armpits.X

                              • Bumper crop: finally the leeks are big enough, Rusty lettuce too, PSB, chard (of course), and the kale is now sprouting so we had lots of kale leaves and their lovely little sprouting tops (Mr TS was SO pleased, rolleyes smiley)
