    • I havent been on for a few weeks but I have mostly been harvesting dwarf beans, peas, baby carrots and small amounts of swiss chard. We've also had some baby turnips.

      • Just been out to the garden to check on some of my show veg and picked a big handful of dwarf beans which are ready now - no point in wasting them - show's not until the 20th.

        • Sweetcorn! Yes sweetcorn and very tasty too. Its been a good year.

I give away courgettes as well. And this year I've been giving away cucumbers - I did pick 7 of them yesterday, no idea how they suddenly appeared like that but fantastic anyway.

I can see some strawbs just starting up again - brilliant eh?

                • My first ever cauliflower....complete with caterpillars, whitefly and caterpillar poo but apart from that, its perfect. Its HUGE as well (well bigger than anything I've ever bought in a supermarket). It was a 'Candid Charm' variety and the head on its own weighed 1.04kg.

We are having cauliflower and lentil dahl tonight. The rabbits have got cauliflower leaves and stem to last them til Christmas I should think (in small amounts so as not to upset their tums).

                            • Yesterday - two sorts of spuds, whites that I can't remember the variety without looking up in my diary and some Pink Fir Apple, first serious runner beans (ie enough to have more than a taste!), bunch of carrots, french beans, cauliflower and courgette from the plot. Cucumber and tomatoes from the greenhouse and garden. FIL came to supper and was suitably impressed by the fact that all the veg he was eating were home grown and even happier with his 'food parcel' containing cucumber and toms. I also made courgette chutney using the recipe posted on here a few days ago. Even in its 'immature' state it's really nice. More chilli in the next batch though!
