  • Pulled off all peas, pulled up the plants for the chickens... feast! Got all the borlotti beans off and wow, they are so pretty! Will definitely grow again. Got some spinach and chard too, and gave all the chard to a couple of my neighbours who have never tried it before. Another neighbour got my runner beans (cause a hamster cant eat them all!). Now he wants an allotment. All in all a good day

      • Yesterday I picked smallish, soft runner beans and cooked them with onions in a white wine and cream sauce.

Today I picked loads of the ones that had been left grow too long - the big, tough lads. I prepared and froze them for adding to soups and stews in winter.

          • Yesterday - picked aubergines from the greenhouse. First picking because of my lateness in planting anything this year.
Made the yummiest aubergine and chickpeas curry ever.

              • Today harvested 350 onions, 110 bulbs of garlic, 50lb of toms, 10lb of pears, 1 lb gala apples, 5lb french beans, 7 peppers, 8 chillies and 22 courgettes. There are crops on the plot, despite it being a bit neglected this year!

                      • 4 smallish but perfectly formed cauliflowers, runners & french beans, carrots, courgettes, spring onions and a bag of red spuds. Oh and some perpetual spinach. That was yesterdays harvest and I made a gorgeous cauliflower & veg bake with it all - if only I had a way of making my own cheese I'd be laughing

                          • I picked all the crop off my baby plum tree - 3 fruits ! Tasty though. I'm a bit cross because it was sold as a Victoria, but the plums are larger and dark purple. Now I don't know what it is
