This morning nipped onto the lottie and picked more beetroot more spring onions for dinner and a cucumber for mi boy. Brassicas are ready but I don't have the time this morning to sort them as I'm taking son to see Olympic touch. They had one from the 1948 London Olympics at school yesterday.... Anyway I digress..Chris

I've been eating raspberries as & when they are ripened.
Today I've actually picked 10 mange tout for tea (I've been nibbling whilst watering upto today) and I cut my first leaves of Kale, very nice too.
Looks like tomatoes will be next when they grow/ripen.Choccy
My favourite animal is steak...
Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.

Today I harvested 2 new potatoes, entirely by accident. After putting up some better support wires for a wisteria and reattaching it to the wall, I decided to weed the border it had been slumped on for the last few weeks. There was a plant that looked kind of like a potato plant, so I tentatively lifted it up, and indeed there were 2 little potatoes of edible size, and 4 or 5 teeny tiny little ones.
I have absolutely no idea how the plant got there, it certainly hasn't been used as a veg plot for the 3 years we've been here, and didn't look like it had before then either. I also don't know how a stray potato, or even potato peeling, could have been discarded there at any point.
It's quite exciting, but also a bit depressing that one of my only successes so far has been a freak chance.
