          • Carrier bag full of broad beans, some of the pods have been munched by the bladdy snugs, but need to sort them. The last strawberry, munched by grandson. More gooseberries ready, but need to go over tomorrow to get them.

            • All I have managed to do today is pot on some winter cabbages. It has been pouring most of the day and we desperately need to get to our allotment. Tomorrow shpuld be dry. It is such a depressing summer, especially for veg growing. Everything is rotting or being eaten by slugs !!! Fed up big time

                • An absolutely brilliant day yesterday. After weeks of watching with angst, debating if we would every get anything after frost until mid June, and cold temperatures for months. we harvested and provided all the veggies for our evening meal

                  We gathered in:
                  Premier new potatoes
                  Foremost new potatoes
                  4 baby carrots
Some broad beans (in their pods to steam)
                  Spinach
                  Perpetual spinach
                  Chard
                  Shallots
5 red strawberries and 4 white strawberries (from the cold frame).

Life is good (and the food very tasty!)

I also dug up the garlic - set some out to dry and chopped the rest for the storing in the freezer.

There's no going back now. We are well and truly hooked on growing our own

                              • Shallots, garlic and elephant garlic which were all grown in tubs of various sizes at home. Not sure what to do with the elephant garlic as its like a big onion.
