    • Think i've just about harvasted the last of the strawberries today. I had about 30 pots in the greenhouse and two half barrels outdoors.
I might get another portion from the outdoor ones but the wet weather is playing havoc with them
I have taken loads of runners for next season and can only hope it will be better and drier.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • We took the boy with us down to the plot today and he had fun digging for potatoes which we boiled with butter, harvested spouting broccoli, thinned out carrots 1/2 and inch wide and a 4 inches long which were roasted, he picked his first ever beetroot's and ate them roasted and he ate the only ripe raspberry of the patch!!
He helped to plant them all and said he was really proud of himself for sowing, growing, picking and eating his own food!

        • My first Black Beauty Aubergine of the season hopefully there'll be more to follow. Also a few tomatoes those outdoors are still doing better than the GH ones...strange.

            • The rest of the onions, mostly red, that I know aren't going to get any bigger. Five more yellow courgettes and a few strawberries.

                    • At last I had enough tomatoes (mostly Tumbler & Trailing Garden Pearl) to finally be able to say the full salad was home grown

                      Salad was:
                      Tomatoes
3 or 4 types of red and green lettuce
                      Spring onions
                      Elephant garlic
                      Courgette
                      Radish
                      Beetroot

....all with a nice omelette and home grown British Queen spuds in home-made garlic butter and chives
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                      ...utterly nutterly

                      • Tomatoes - despite the odd weather, its looking good for tomatoes - courgettes, patty pan squash, haricot grren & yellow, cues and gherkins, lettuce.

                        • Harvested more lettuce from the tub near the front door - it's looking very sparce in there now so I think I will be transplanting some All Year Round seedlings from the blow away to fill the gaps.

Been very pleased with the tub this year - it has been providing us with leaves for nearly two months for an outlay of 30p on an out-of-date ASDA living lettuce that I planted up back in April

                            • Lebanese courgettes (very pale green aubergine-shaped fruit). Four of them. Never tried them before (they came as part of a mixed pack of seed) but I hope they're nice - I think I'm going to be eating quite a lot of them in the next week or so now they've decided to start.

A sad day as the last of the broad beans are taken and the plants cut down. The allotment looks a little empty and bleak without them.
