      • Only 3 savoy cabbage left, so I repositioned the netting to keep them safe from the pigeons and pulled up the old stumps for the chickens. I rough dug over the bed in the hope the soil will dry enough to get the grass clumps out tomorrow.
I sowed carrots, beetroot and parsnips direct, and those I sowed last month are now now showing through. I also planted my aubergines out in the polythene caves and sorted out chillies for the bedroom windows sill. Time to replace the ones that have been there for 2.5 years as they are beginning to flag a bit.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

                • Some mixed salad leaves from the greenhouse.

But more importantly: my first harvest from my allotment. A small, single radish. I ate it there, dirt and all.
