    • I've just come home from 4 days away and found everything ripe at once. This afternoon I've harvested broad beans, strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, the first marrow and 3 rather overgrown courgettes.

              • the first French beans. Last week there were none, & I've been struggling to keep them watered in this prolonged drought (only one real rain since winter).

2 carrier bags full of blackcurrants (I might make a sorbet, I've gone off jam)

bread bag full of redcurrants, 1 punnet strawbs

3 mins later: I just bought an ice cream maker to deal with the glut of fruit

2 large lettuces, a carrier bag full of peas, a bread bag of broadies, another of beetroot

The spuds are ready but I'm leaving them in the ground 'til I need them

                        • Lots and lots of rasberries from my autumn canes which I only chopped in half instead of down to the ground. Beautifully ripe and with none of the work involved with normal summer canes.
