Been away for 2 weeks and have come home to a mammoth harvest of mammoth courgettes. 2 massive green, 5 massive yellow and 4 massive tondo as well as some more in a more normal range. Also picked tomatoes, cucamelons, apples, purple dearf French and purple climbing beans. Cucumbers (muncher that have grown pretty big and crystal lemon). A few mini pop Sweetcorn. Blackberries. So much more stuff to harvest tomorrow!

I think they're nicer than eating radish and you get more of them! Some of the pods feel smooth, others a bit like soft sandpaper. Don't let them get too old though - pick them when they're soft and green.Location....East Midlands.

I've just been out to get some veg for my eggs 'florentine' breakfast:
shepherd's purse
courgette (with flower!)
parsley
I'll add in shredded runner beans picked yesterday. But, I've been waiting two hours to start cooking my breakfast so at this rate it's going to be lunch! Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?

Parsley and oregano to go with lunch - which was made from homegrown yellow and green courgette, mini pop sweetcorn, onion, garlic, tomatoes.
Harvested full grown golden nugget sweetcorn (4), half a row of second early potatoes, more blackberries and apples, and shallots. Really pleased with the shallots as I planted them very late.Likac66

Yesterday at the plot, 10 lbs of runner beans (we had been away for 3 days), 1.5 lbs of French beans and 6 lbs of plums. 4 cucumbers from the greenhouse and about 1.5 lbs of tomatoes, the last of the first early potatoes that I planted late (20p seed spuds from the 99p shop) ... those have been really nice! Pickling and jamming this morning, I think. Oh and 2 courgettes.Last edited by susieq100; 22-08-2013, 07:50 AM.
