  • Harvested the last of the Kestrel spuds, good sizes but still only three/four per plant! Picked two oversized corgettes and tied up the runner beans that were escaping.

    • Picked some runners and a few carrots. Just getting to many runners to even give away and I cut down to four six foot rows. Spuds have about finished and were a big disappointment. Had a nice stir fry veg last night with courgettes, onions, tomatoes and a few shop bought mushrooms. Tomatoes are starting to be coming out me ears. Still haven't started on chutney's or tomatoes for freezer yet.

          • Quick trip to the lottie this afternoon, or so I thought. Ended up with 4 lb runner beans, 1 and a half lb french beans, 2 marrows, 4 lb potatoes, 10 lb Sturon onions, and 1 cabbage. Struggled to carry the harvest home, and I'll have to go again tomorrow cos I noticed some broad beans ready. From the greenhouse at home, 4 cayenne chillies, 12 oz Sungold tomatoes and a few Gardener's Delight.

                • Yesterday I harvested:
                  4 corn-on-the-cobs (will NEVER be able to eat shop bought again);
                  a large mixed salad with rocket, land cress, cos, lollo rossa and iceburg leaves;
                  6 carrots;
                  5 mixed beetroots;
                  a cucumber;
                  another 8oz french climbing beans (that makes 7lb in total now, 4.5lb in freezer;
                  6oz runner beans (makes 5lb of those now with 3lb in freezer); and
                  a handful of borlotti beans

                  Reet
                  xx

                  • i have picked runner beans, potatoes,crinkly green lettuce and a big courgette.noticed that the other 2 courgette plants are in fact cucumber plants with a nice cuc just gagging to be picked.that also means the 2 plants down the allotment could be one or the other, so im waiting to see the result
                    a good put down line to use !

                    • 5 more courgettes, 4 lbs runner beans, 9 lbs second early spuds from a potato bag (1st and 2nd earlies all dug up now, 8 bags=56 lbs potatoes! Still 4 bags maincrop to go - yippee!) 9 cucumbers, green peppers, 4 lbs huge moneymaker tomatoes, 5 beetroot, 6 carrots (neither of them seem to be doing very well in my high alkali soil), 1 lb dwarf french beans and some early brussel sprouts. Also have been given a big carrier bag of plums and one of apples. I'm so busy cooking and preserving.

                      • Another bag full of beans for me today...its a good job we love them!
                        Also, I tested two of the sweetcorns today and they look ready, but I am leaving that until the water is boiling! Two small cucumbers that I pickled, and strawberries that didn't make it to the kitchen!

                              • Popped to the lottie for a quick harvest after work, didn't get home from there till 8 pm. Haul as follows: 1 courgette, 8 oz french beans, 1 lb 12 oz runner beans, 6 raspberries that didn't make it home, and 2 lb blackberries from my neighbour's bramble border (I do have permission, and anyway the b***** thing attacks me every time I try to access my plot)
