  • picked 4 lbs of toms and gathered up some windfall apples. Managed to get another 2lbs of wild plums from down the road and added a big aubergine, small cucumber and sweet pepper and a few small onions. Yet more chutney...it's a good job I like eating the stuff.

      • Lovely pic Digthatchick!

Have just harvested Sharpe's express potatoes, courgettes, runner beans, tomatoes and calabrese for tea.Plus the usual 2 eggs from the chooks....(one has decided not to lay !) and some discovery apples.
I've grown "Gardener's delight" tomatoes this year and the flavour is fantastic.

Not bad for my tiny back garden....I feel really proud of myself!!
I've been watering my neighbours greenhouse whilst they were away on holiday and am rather smug that my outdoor toms are better than theirs in the greenhouse.

Unfortunately have a gap in salad crops because of going away on holiday and the Bloody snails ate most of the plants that were coming on, despite me using pellets ( I have a problem with my own cats digging up newly planted stuff, so I put short canes around it....the snails climbed the canes to avoid the slug pellets and dropped down onto the plants. SAS snails??)
Can't keep up with the beans, so need to take out something BIG from the freezer to eat tomorrow , so I can freeze beans!

                        • Picked all sorts of veg for a big, hearty soup then after lunch got 37lbs of apples from a tree that hasn't borne fruit for the last two seasons. Some I'll freeze and some I'll mix with others from the garden and some wild crabs to make cider.

                            • I too have not been to the plot since Tuesday - so a carrier bag full of runner beans, all the apples from my Katy tree (did not expect any fruit at all this year so the 15 apples are a real bonus), beetroot, sweetcorn for lunch, french beans for my salad for lunch tomorrow, cucumbers (6 mini ones) and a punnet of yellow tomatoes from the greenhouse. I love this time of year!
