Yup I did something just as silly, planted them in a bed that I needed to do work on through the winter, I had to pot up 6 plants, lost 5 of them. But the one that survived gave us a fair few meals, and was lovley. Although its gone into flower now, is that it or will it give any more broccoli??
I grow lots of it and by choosing the right varieties you can have Purple sprouting from Oct right through till April!
The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.
Does purple sprouting broccoli not transplant well? I've started mine in a big pot and then was going to plant out in June/July. Sounds like I should be sowing them direct.
I always grow mine in modules then transplant out.never had a problem

Once it's flowered that's it I'm afraid. Mine's just about done - I'm taking off the lower leaves that are still green and tearing them up for the chooks. They love them!
