    Help!
I raised some lovely plants and when i plant them out, they are nibbled away. I have used slug pellets and I did see a slug trail around 1 plant but the others are still being nibbled and no sign of slugs.

I did see a pigeon in my garden but not near the veg. Can this damage be caused by pigeons and if so how can I protect the plants
    regards

hi - i'm not planting out my psb until late summer, seedlings are staying in the house, soon will be in the greenhouse though when it's just a tad warmer. pigeons/slugs will devastate anything if it's young...

Talking of cats, my cat has been paying special attention to the PSB,. Surely she isnt doing the damage!

it is quite probable that it is pigeons this time of the year they are feeding young and are desperate for food....jacob

Eileen, cats are just as destructive, i've got 3 so I protect everything if I can...they're not interested in teh psb though...just the catnip seedlings...and they've been eaten I think!

I have put some netting around them now. Is this the right time of year to plant them?

You plant them out when they're big enough to withstand the weather and the slugs.
I'd say about 6" tall, give or take.
Mine won't be ready to go out for another month yet.

I think I am at cross fingers stage then! I will keep a few seedlings in reserve
