I'm ashamed to say I didn't, having read "the instructions". I'm actually not very keen on squash perhaps it should be my this years project, get to like squash. Last year it was beetroot and that worked quite well, probably ate more beetroot last year than I had in my whole life!
So OK then, for a non-starter like me what's the best one to go for?

LOL - last year was my year of the beetroot! I grew tons of it, and discovered that I actually liked to eat it (normally I split the lot between my lovely neighbours and my mother). Might be something to do with being pregnant, but I found that whilst prepping them to pickle, I was eating one for every two I peeled!

Try an open pollinated butternut - they roast really well with parsnips and potatoes; and they keep well too. The F1 varieties can be a bit fussy. But then I'm biased and don't grow anything hybrid if I can possibly help it.

I child-proofed my house, but they still manage to get in.

OK will look out for one of the butternut types, as for parsnip that is a childhood horror along with brussel sprouts that will have to wait a few years yet for me to get around to even trying to eat. Urgh all those memories of being forbidden to leave the table till the wretched things were eaten. Always thought the best bit of being grown up was not having to eat brussel sprouts!

I've been given some Lady Godiva squash seeds, but they don't look 'naked' to me - they look like ordinary squash seeds with hulls.... Anyone know if this is what they should look like.... I suppose I could have been given something else by mistake.
