  • Sweetcorn, soya beans & borlotti beans

I'm planning out my veg plots and deciding what to put where. Can anyone give me a rough idea how tall I can expect sweetcorn, borlotti beans and soya beans to grow? There are a few places I could put them but it depends how big they're likely to be.
Also, if I'm growing them from seed, would you recommend planting them straight in the ground (on the packets it says this is fine) or would it be better to start them off in pots? Is it too early to plant them straight into the ground now?
    Thanks for any advice!

Sweetcorn - about 5 foot tall
    Borlotti (dwarf) 12"
    Borlotti (climber) about 5'
    Soya beans - about 2'

No, because the slugs eat mine as they appear. I need to start them in pots until they are about 6" high and a bit tough, then they go in the ground.

I don't know where you are. Can you put your location into your profile

They are all tender crops, so can only go outside after your last frost.

            I'm in South Yorkshire.
Sounds like I'll be best planting them in seed trays and starting them off under cover then. I shall get on with that soon!
