No action from the beetroot

    Hi Bramble Killer, try soaking your next lot over night, luke warm water, to help break their dormancy.

    Draw our your seed drill, water bottom of drill, sow seed, then fill the seed drill with compost.

    Mid may is a great time for sowing beetroot.

      Hurray!! I planted my beetroot two weeks ago and I noticed last night that they have started to grow.......I was sooooo excited, being a newby seeing your first seeds that you have planted in the garden begin to grow is amazing!!

      I have also soaked some and planted them, Thanks for all your advice

        Beetroot are notorious for their variable germination,I've been sowing small amounts at weekly intervals for years,the original idea was to avoid a glut,some germinated and some didn't and they all came from the same packet!

          Started some of my boltardy seeds in modules (as I did last year) and put them in my little greenhouse. After hardening them off planted them out last weekend - havent been able to go up the allotment this week due to work pressures and with all the rain we've had in the last few days they've probably drowned. Plan to sow some more this weekend so have a steady supply over several months.
