  • When to plant Romanesco and Brussels

I have some of the above growing in modules at the moment. If I pot on into larger pots, would it be ok to wait to plant them out until I dig up my early spuds? Fast running out of room , and will have 2 big beds free once potatoes are out.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi

I've moved your thread out of Growing Techniques into a board where people can reply

    Many Thanks

Yes you can pot them on, but they do have a long growing season and prefer to be in firm ground....that's the snag; potato harvests fluff up the soil...not at all favoured by brassicas.

I don't know how many you have, but can you not dot your brassicas around the plot where they will fit in?
That's what I had to do last year, due to lack of (organised) space.

they can go next to something fast-growing like salads, which will be finished by the time the brassicas are big.

This is what I am purposely doing this year and is all part and parcel of the ornamental kitchen garden!

Brassicas can be potted on to a 5" pot quite easily and that size pot will allow the plant to get to quite a size before you need to plant out.
