Mine seem to have taken ages to come up, but about 80% are through now. Bit gutted that the ones which haven't come up are mostly the Giant Purple sent to me in a seed swap Ah well, they've got another week to show their faces...

I threw them outside and will wait another couple of weeks. If nothing comes up then the trays will hit the bucket.

I started my french beans off in modules on a sunny windowsill at home and they took a while to come up but them romped away, you could try that. Good luck.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

According to my records, all my French beans came up last year within about 10 days. This year they seem to have taken an age despite being grown in exactly the same conditions (ie root trainers in a cold greenhouse during May). Was getting a bit annoyed with them when I noticed that the Trail of Tears were coming through but still no sign of the Blahilde or Blue Lake. Had a bit of a furtle and noticed that they were beginning to come through and now have a few of each but it's taken about 3.5 weeks which is unheard of for me normally. Have held off sowing more as I really don't want anymore (am useless at throwing any plants I grow) but should now have enough even if no more germinate. Maybe it's just been a slow year!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Mine have been slower than last year but looking back we had really warm lovely weather last spring followed by horrid wet in summer. It has been much less sunny this year so may be that's what has made the difference...

                growing french beans-help

hi there, as a complete beginner, can someone help me. I am growing dwarf french beans (the prince) and broad beans (giant exhibition longpod), are they both climbers, ie do I need to build a tepee? Are all peas climbers as well??

I've had very patchy germination, about 50% with both dwarf french and runners.

I tried jogging, but I couldn't keep the ice in my glass.
