Deep enough for sweetcorn?

My sweetcorn are doing nicely in the greenhouse and I'm planning on planting them out at the end of the month.

The raised bed that I have prepared for them is approx 16 inches deep - is this enough? The bed is 4' x 4' and hoped it would home 16 sweetcorn.

I would think this is enough. Mine have gone into raised beds that are 12 inches deep. I did the same last year and they were fine.

The first time I grew sweetcorn they went in a new 'raised' bed and had the grand sum of 5" depth of soil. They grew fine. They grow lots of roots and can be earthed up though I didn't bother that first time.

(they took one heck a lot of digging up to clear the bed)
