  • Squash plant - split stem

Hi All, i just been and put my squash plant out this morning to get some sun... Gone to get it in and I noticed that the main stem has twisted and split on two sides Has anyone had this happen to theirs... will it possibly survive or do I just cut my loses now. Its a rather big plant so very disappointed and annoying

Yes, I've had the same thing, today in fact. It is usually fine, as long as when you plant it out you position the plant so that the stem doesn't twist any more.

Support it with something - masking tape and a stick even. It will knit together and be fine as long as the rot doesn't set in.

Thank you both I will get a few more sticks to support it. It is standing upright again this morning so fingers crossed...
