indoors or outdoors today?

i've got some seedlings (peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, spring onions and some very sad looking radishes) in pots that i've been growing on the windowsill.. i was off work yesterday so i put them outside for a couple of hours in the blowaway greenhouse just to give them a change of scenery.. i brought them in as soon as the weather got bad though

but today i've got to go to work so won't be home to rescue the poor babies if the weather gets really cold and rainy.. so my question is, should i put them outside in the blowaway greenhouse and just hope they'll be ok till i get home at 8pm and if so shall i leave the door zipped up or open? .. OR should i wimp out and leave them indoors?

if you can't keep an eye on them and something happens to them, you'll be kicking yourself.

I left my blowaway greenhouse open yesterday and all was fine, but they do overheat very easily and mine is in a sheltered spot, now. If your's is still blowawayable, I'd stick to the windowsill if you have room, or invest in a coldframe/build one. That way they can have shelter from cold winds and still get ventilation/sun.

Why not build yourself one like on Gardeners World last week with bricks for the sides and a pane of glass for the top...

Even a large cardboard box with high sides is good for protection from wind and would survive a fair bit of rain. A bit of fleece attached with washing pegs is good too.

i keep hearing a lot about fleece, is it a special sort of gardening fleece or just like my fleece jumper??

Lol, slightly different. You can get it in wilkinsons. White flimsy material that lets in light and rain/water but keeps plants cosy from wind and frosts.

Well you make little coats for them, a bit like your fleece.

I use fleece in the winter to throw over tender plants or shrubs if a frost is forecast. I also have used it as a covering on a home made cold frame shelf and also as a wigwam cover for my sweet peas. Once you have it you will find ways of useing it.
