hello,
i'm trying something with 2 of my tomato plants, i've planted a cordon and a bush variety in the same pot, my thinking being that as one grows tall the other bushes out at the bottom, supplying me with 2 types of tomato from the same pot, therefore saving space etc.
i did this at the end of March and have been growing them in my conservatory, the only issue i have had is that the cordon which is growing up and over the bush is obviously shading the one beneath, to combat this i have pruned the offending branches, it hasn't seemed to have done any harm but just wanted some reassurance that it wouldnt have any negative effects when it comes time for it to fruit.
the bush has already got a few tomatos on the go and the cordon is flowering well.
the pot i'm using is quite a large one of around 14" in diameter.
