  • Horse muck

I got a bag of this wonderfully perfumed stuff from my brother but not sure where to spread it.
I am growing brassicas and root veg and don't think either will like it.
Will I do best to just mix it in with my compost heap?

    Horse muck

    Hi AP
Is the horse muck fresh or has it been stacked for a while ? Fresh horse manure is high in ammonia and should be composted or stacked before use - up to a year is the common recommendation.

If it's fresh you could always mix it with the contents of your compost bin thhat will help speed things along in htere as well. Then you could spread it on the soil later on in the year as it will have broken down a bit and will be diluted by the other stuff.
