Sweet potatoes from T & M

I ordered 5 Beauregard and 5 T65 Sweet potatoes from T & M. They arrived yesterday in a poor state. I stood them in water as instructed but 3 of the T65 were past it (dead). The other two are the best of the lot and look as if they will be ok. All the Beauregard look terminal. I have potted them up but there is no sign of revival. What I would like to know is if other grapes have had a similar experience. I shall be contacting T & M to let them know what has happened

I have bought off them before and they did look pretty rubbish when the arrived. However by the time they'd been soaked in water for a couple of hours and then planted in compost, all put one of them pulled round and started to produce greenery within a week or so.

Thanks, Alison. That is encouraging. I have decided two more will probably pull through which is probably enough sweet potato for me. Did you get a reasonable crop in the end ?

They are just slips? They do tend to dry out very easerly. With a bit of a soak they should be ok.

I got mine a week ago friday they to were frazzled, put them in water for a couple of hours and they still didn't look any better so I thought the only thing to do is follow the instructions and put them in root trainers and a week later all but one had started to grow so I had a look in the root trainer and even the dead looking one had roots on it no leaves yet but it is still alive.

Not really. They didn't arrive until the end of June which was rather late and I tried to grow them outside under plastic as recommended somewhere. They didn't have a long enough, warm summer to do much. I did take cuttings from them though and kept them going over winter. Grew them in pots and got a few useable sweet potatoes off them but they took up too much space for me. Now I have a plot I hope to try them again in the polytunnel (when I get that sorted)
