  • First Potatoes

I'm really amazed. I found an old potato, a Lady Crystl, left from last year, way back in March, and just popped it into the ground, pretty deep. Today, I decided it was in the way really, and dug it up. 3 decent size new potatoes, and one large one, almost as many as some roots I tended with loving care last year
We'll all be able to taste them with our roast beef dinner later
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
    Now a little Shrinking Violet.

I have today harvested the first of my rocket potatoes. I planted 5 tubers 14 weeks ago, and have just lifted one plant today. 2lbs of spuds, so I am very happy!
    Never say never!

Harvested my first set of Arran Pilots last week. A little disappointed with the yield, really, but I can't remember if it was 12 weeks or 14 weeks ago that they were planted, so can't complain! They were still delicious with butter and salt!

Tried one of my Duke of York which had a mass of foliage............................. and got three spuds the size of marbles!!!!!!! Luckily I only dug it up because it was hanging over the pathway!

Serves me right for not fertling first!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
