Hi all,
I appear to have white rot developing on my shallots, although I do not seem to have the tell-tale "black bodies" in the fungus.
They are being grown in a raised bed which seems pretty free draining and I am sure it is not over/under watering, although as usual I may be wrong.
The fungus is only on the outside of the shallots, they do not seem to be rotting and there is no slimyness or smel. Once cleaned up they taste fine and I have been using them instead of spring onions.
As usual I have several questions and as usual I am sure you will come to my rescue..... so here goes......
Is there likely to be another cause? Should I lift the whole crop and burn it or is it ok to continue lifting them as needed.
If I do lift the whole crop, instead of burning does anyone have any ideas i.e. 15 gallons of shallot soup :-).
Again if I do lift the whole crop any ideas or suggetions about what I could put in now and still get a crop? The site is just north of London between Barnet and Watford.
