Photos: Pepper & Tomato Problems?

Hi, Have a look at these things which are happening to my tomatoes & peppers. I hasten to add that they'll all doing petty well but I would like to help them along a bit if I need to.

The crinkly pepper leaves *I think* are caused by greenfly which get right down in the growing tip next to the tiny flower heads where I can't reach them to squash them. I'm parolling twice a day at the mo' and always squish the ones I can get to easily. Heck that feels great!

But look at that bug thing, that was found on a young pepper leaf. What is it? I've found one or two in the past. If it doesn't hurt I'll leave it. But if it's nasty....

Finally the tomato plants. This mouldy stuff appeared after a very, very humid day in the conservatory. The plants are doing ok and I'll leave it alone if it's not serious. Is it blight related?

Anyway, your thoughts always welcome.

Ooh, gotta say I've never seen what's on your toms before - maybe someone will come along and recognise it. I spray our aphids with w-u-l soap spray, a squirt to a litre of water, should get the one you can't squish. The 'grub' looks very unappealing, at least 'move it on' somewhere less sensitive than your peppers if you don't want to chance it being a friendly bug?

What's w-u-l soap spray? It sound just what I need. I elected to remove the bug thing and pop it into the dusbin. Should be peaceful in there for him.

The white stuff? I think, from reading around, hat it's some type of mould/fungus. Like I said the toms seem happy?

Photos 1 and 2 - your tomato plants. Don't worry about these wart like growths - in all likelihood these are root initials and nothing to worry about. If the plants are stunted or start to underperform, I would look for some other reason. I get these growths on about half my tomato plants each year and they don't suffer - not very pretyt to look at though.

Sorry SR, you need glasses. They look nothing like root initials and do look like mould or something equally nasty.

Umm, well it's been there on the Marmalade plants only ever since the very humid day about 10/14 days ago. This plant is in the middle of about 15 other plants of different types. The plant seems ok and it, like all the others, is growing like a triffid and producing healthy looking fruit now.

But it looks and feels like a mould to me. I'll wait and see what happens.

Had another look and did a quick search for botrytis - have a look at this and see if you think it fits !

Looks like botrytis to me - you need to increase the air circulation as much as possible to discourage these fungi.....remove some lower leaves, spread the plants out if they're in pots. Do what you can to get the humidity down......

I don't know what it is, but if it was on my tomato plants, I'm pretty sure I'd want it off! Piece of paper, or a cloth underneath, and gently scrape it off with a sharp knife, trying not to damage the stem. Then at least you'll find out if it's hiding some nasty bugs. (Woolly Aphids for instance hide themselves under woolly looking stuff)
I don't think it's botrytis, but if it was, you'd need to remove that plant because it spreads like billyoh once it takes hold.

The aphids on your pepper, you don't even need w-u-l in the spray, just get one of those small garden sprays that you can adjust the sprayer on, turn it onto a thin jet and blast them out of the nooks and crannies. The plant won't mind

I found a bug like that on my lettuce. Squashed it. Don't know what it was though, perhaps I was a bit hasty? oh well too late for it now
