Tree sap??

Hello all.

Our back yard adjoins a large park and on the park side of the fence is a HUUUUUUUGE Sycamore tree. For the past few weeks, it's been covering everything in a sticky sap, including the onions, beans, spinach and beetroot in the planting bed which is directly underneath the tree. And not forgetting the greenhouse, numerous planting boxes, and even the wheelie bin

Will this sap be a problem either to the growth or taste of the veggies?

Its not actually tree sap as such, its called Honey Dew and its from the Aphids that are sucking from the tree.

Its a by product of their feeding, it wont hurt anything underneath, however often sooty mould will grow on the honey dew and give objects/plants a 'sooty' covering.

It harmless and again will not hurt anything it covers, it can be easily removed with a damp cloth/sponge...and there will be a lot in warmer weather.

I do suggest however you wash anything you are going to eat that has Sooty mould on it.
