is 3 tonnes of topsoil a lot?

i'm picking up some topsoil off a man on freecycle tonight.. he says there's about 3 tonnes of it, is that a lot?? i'm afraid i've got no understanding of tonnage.. i only want enough for a raised bed

If you want it for a couple of seed trays, yes. If you want it for a 100-acre farm, no. ()

lol it feels like i've just dug enough out of the trailer for a 100 acre farm

the clever ppl on here were right, i needed about 1/2 tonne.. just finished putting it in the raised bed and it looks pretty damn fine if i do say so myself

do i need to water it or anything or can i go straight out (after i've finished eating last nights pizza) and start planting?
