Cucumbers - just not growning

Hi

I am having real trouble with my cucumbers, this is the first year that I have grown them.

I have four plants and they are all doing the same.

the old leaves seem to dry up and die - I was removing these leaves so the plant didnt put all its energy into them.

I have attached a photo of one of my plants.

really would apreciate peoples help, is there anything I can do?

Are you feeding it anything?

Are they in peat free compost, multipurpose, or in some well rotted manure based compost?

Do they have a lot of direct light on them. My cucumbers were going pale and drying out due to too much light. The ones shaded by tomatoes in the same greenhouse were fine.

I'm no expert but the pot doesn't look very big, maybe a bigger pot would help?

My first thought when I looked at the picture was that they are being scorched, has your greenhouse got any shading on it? Cucumbers really prefer to be in shade, and humid, rather than in full sun and dry air.

Marketmore is an outdoor cucmber not a greenhouse variety. There are a lot of differences, for starters the cues ar about half as long, they're sort of spiny and you have to leave the male flowers on rather than take them off like you do with a GH cue that isn't all female... They need hardening off and going outdoors.....

I chose to grow that variety this year (and have done so in the past) becasue it doesn't take up space in the GH.... I usually stake a pallet into the ground (two stakes, wire them to the pallet) and grow the plants over that..... they sholdn't need shade outdoors though....

Peppertom, the cuc in the picture looks like it has been bleached by the sun. Give them some shade and they should recover.

the cucumbers have been shaded from the sun, now the tomato plants that have grown up infront of them shade some more.

do you think they will recover?

do you think there is time to star some more? or do you think i should just give up for this year?

I'm having trouble with my outdoor cues, maybe they are getting too much sun ?? Will try and give them a sun shade as I'm fed up with re-seeding

The cucumbers look fried to me Peppertom.
I wouldn't give up on them. The destroyed leaves won't recover but the new leaves will be fine if you reduce the temp / direct light.
Do you have a thermometer in your greenhouse. You might be astonished at the temps it can hit in there.
