From what I can gather there is no effort....just leave em to there own devices, bit like mint!

Whether the taste or texture are worth it.....I'll never know if I don't try em! Just something a little bit different from the norm

Found them in the organic gardening catalogue. Just under six quid for 20 tubers.
I'm tempted to give them a go myself, they looked quite nice in the article in GYO

Wash them under the tap as soon as you lift them otherwise they are hell to clea. Fry lightly in butter.

You want to try them Mr D, then go ahead, I'm now intrigued by everyones descriptions of the taste and use in Halloween 'fun' food, I may even try them myself, if I can overcome the way they look like bugs!

You've got me thinking I'll give them a try. I've seen them in catalogues before, but was put off by the look of them. If they are that easy to grow and taste nice, we'll just have to give them a try!

Beware they really do spread like mint !
Did enjoy eating them..and they were fun maggots on halloween- although they would take some scrubbing to get rid of the soil in the folds. ( I have peat soil and it was still a bit of a job!)
Just consider containing them a little! - Small crop- but nice to have a change I always say!!
brilliant Nicos, can't wait for halloween now.i reckon they we made for it!

You'd need several pots- a raised bed would contain them, and they are easy enough to pull out and transplant if they start to go out of bounds.
They don't grow very deep which makes it easier to crop.
The top growth on mine was about 15cm.
thanks again this was the information/confirmation i was looing for.I've planted mine afew inches down in a raised ed ,so they'd have to go another 6" down at least to esape.I hope they don't.
Depending on how we like them they could than be given a permanent but contained site next year.
