I fingered mine about April time, but unlike onions the cloves are a bit deeper.

I am harvesting my final moon garlics this weekend, and one I can see already is huge. Once the non-moon ones are out [first week of july], I will put the differences in sizes, but every moon clove bar one so far has been significantly bigger than the non-moon ones.....by a long shot. I really want them all up now as they are SO rusty, but a trial is a trial and so they stay until the very last day.
Do you think the rust will affect the cloves? Apart from slowing down growth, naturally!

Ok I give in, I've searched the threads but can't find it. What's fingering if you don't mind me asking? Have I missed a trick? My garlic is still very green (a bit how I feel) and upstanding.

I blame Mrs Dobby for this one [it works really well with onions]...

Snadger - I have no idea about the rust - they are really covered in it but I'm not pulling them until the trial is up.
