Too Late for Maincrops?

I've just found 6 Sarpona Axona's chitting away on the windowsill. They are in good condition with no long white thready stems but good fat chits. Is it too late to plant them? And if I give it a try would the ground or pots be best?

when does blight hit your area? late July?

that gives you about 6 weeks to grow them ... not really long enough, but have a go if you have the space

How can I find out when blight is due in my area?

Also, is it ok to compost all the potato foliage when I've dug up my potatoes?

Sarpo spuds survive blight even if it does strike, this is a bad area for blight but mine do well each year when all around go black! I'd stick 'em in if you've got space and see what happens.

Plant then - you should be ok for a late October crop. I grow a closely related variety (Sarpo Mira) which as Lottieval states - do not get blight.

Give them a go if you have the room. They will keep going until the first frost and can give some nice big potatoes for jackets.
