  • What's eating my peppers?

Two of my pointy peppers have got lots of tiny swiss cheese style holes in their leaves. I can't seem to find a bug or anything on the plants and I have had a good look. My aubergines and chillies are in the same mini-greenhouse and don't seem to be affected. I will try and find my camera and post a picture in a bit. The plants are otherwise healthy and coming into flower. Any ideas what it could be?

    Thanks very much!

More than likely it's a small slug or snail. They don't seem to munch through whole leaves, just bite mouthfuls out Have a look on the underside of all the pots and on the frame of the g/house, and underneath any stones at the bottom too.

Well it would have to be very tiny, plus its not leaving any slime that I can see.

Here is a picture just in case.

I had something similar happen to my peppers last year and I thought that it might be ants.

have a very careful look for caterpillars. They might be rolled up in a leaf

caterpillars. They've munched and now they're in hiding.

Definitely caterpillars, They are tiny to start with and virtually invisible ( a sort of translucent green that matches the underside of the leaf) unless you hold the leaf against the light.
I just found an invasion of them on one of my chilli/pepper plants and have spent half an hour picking them off. They will roll up into a tiny ball if they feel threatened and parachute down to the soil where they are almost impossible to spot. The poor planty is now in the office with me monitoring for escapees

I would say from the photograph the cause is flea beetle.
I have had the same. Cured it with 'Greenfly killer plus spray.

                      Fleabeetles attack brassicas, not peppers.
                      It's caterpillar damage.

We get flea beetle holes on our aubergine leaves, never seen 'em on the peppers but don't mean it ain't that...think in small numbers they're pretty harmless?
