I pinched out my runners 6" from the top of the wigwam, they're now this tall:

No idea what they'd be like if I hadn't pinched them, but it doesn't seem to have stopped them so much.

Ollie mines the same, so now I'm not sure if I ought to snip all the growth that's above the canes.

by pinching out the tip like already said you will encourage side shoots but you will also prevent pests like blackfly

Not much, you won't. Blackfly will still congregrate on the underneath of leaves ... don't get complacent folks just because you're pinching out.

yep. Beans along in a bit. Make sure your plants don't dry out.

when they are big enough to eat. 8cm isn't too small, imo. The more you pick, the more you get.

What, all of them Hazel? I'm a coward so I think I'd only do half of them.

May be a bit dry at the roots, or lack of pollination. If you do water, then give them a really good soak.

Yep - I pinched 'em all out at 2' then turned my back, & next minute they were at 4', and I pinched 'em out again. I've turned my back this evening (rain stops play) and I bet they are up near the tops.

                            Will take a pic.

Maybe I'll be brave next year. Mine are doing well, and picked my first beans day before yesterday
