Cabbage

Can anyone help ? I'me new to gardening and have planted cabbage and they have been growing well with big leaves but I just noticed how brittle the leafs are where the connect to the main shoot. If I looked at a leaf it comes away fairly easily in my hand. Is this normal ?

Otherwise they look very healthy.

i think your o.k. my cabbage is the same,brush your hand against the leaves and i get a cracking sound and a broken leaf.
some one else will be along with an explanatuion if im wrong soon.

only ... don't keep pulling the leaves!

yes, cabbage leaves are fairly brittle. I accidentally break loads off when I'm weeding
