Mine are in the tunnel after last year's rain related failure.... They're lovely and tall, the top tassles are just starting to emerge.

ours are between 18" and 2ft tall. they are splitting off to make tassels and additional cobs.

I love sweetcorn, I can't wait. Trying Ashworth this year from the real seed company, had an excellent germination.

Hmm, mine are only about 6" tall and this is my third year attempting to grow them.

I would desperately love to have fresh sweetcorn on my birthday in August.

Amanda - your beds look fantastic.

Mine are flowering well at 3ft tall

Only had 10 plants so spaced them out well to give more light for the squash growing under them - they've grown better with more space and all have side shoots so should produce several cobs each

Now I'm wishing I had later ones to follow - direct sown would have done well this year

Yup. It's about that time. We grow zea mays which is similar but a bit more primitive (and a lot more ornamental ) But we eat it (when young) too.

                      hi
it's my first year growing mini pops never grown sweet corn before, they are now about 4-5 feet tall and going strong
                      a couple of questions
do mini pops go on to be full grown cobs?
also they are spliting at the bottom with extra shoots
do i leave them or take them of ?
                      will they fruit?

Mine have grown to 4ft, producing tassels but are being strangled by runnerbeans to the left and sweetpeas to the right

Will try again next year now I have more room.

From planting out about 4 weeks old mid June, Squashes have been planted out with some cover against the wind!

                          to this taken yesterday!

Doing much, much better than last year, Hoping to actually get to eat some Sweetcorn & Squashes this year
Jiving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray, seems to be all and it's rosy-it's a beautiful day!

Yes they do, but they aren't nice. IMHO minipop must be eaten as baby corn and as such I don't feel they are worth the space they take up

one of mine has a cob, the rest all have open flowers so i am hoping the flowers dont die off before the cobs appear!
