I'm growing my potatoes in bags and have been earthing them up right to the top of the bag. The trouble is the foliage has grown so high that it's all falling over and breaking. Can I cut this down or must I leave it all to get the resulting potatoes. There aren't any flowers appearing yet. Is it usual for the stems and leaves to grow so high? Help please.

I put canes in the bag around the edge and then tied tights around the canes and the foliage is now tamed. Trouble is, I had a furtle last week as recommended and felt nothing, chiefly because the bags were really dry. I've watered every other day since then and I'm hoping that some tubers will swell, although I fear I may have left it too late.Granny on the Game in Sheffield

I had a furtle in mine and had the same results I'm beginning to wonder if I'm watering an empty bag of compost Only thing that gives me a clue that something was planted is the HUGE foliage on top lol.
