  • Optimum number of peppers per plant?

Is there a "safe" number of peppers per plant? You know, 6 trusses on a tomato to ensure ripening etc.
I have a Torro de Rosso pepper with currently 10 peppers, the biggest of which is about 5" long. I'm really pleased with this, however I am not the biggest fan of green peppers but adore red peppers. Is there an optimum number or do I just keep feeding and watering and hope for a good summer?
First attempt at peppers, so all advice gratefully received.

I grow peppers, lots mof them and I've jsut let the plant do it's own thing. I haven't noticed plants with ten fruit doing ripening quicker than a plant with less fruit. All I would say is you may well have to provide extra support for the plant. I normally just use string attached to the crop bars and then attached to the plants. I let most of mine turn red but will pick some green peppers. I freeze a lot for use all year round and so like to have both green and red.

Basically, a cluster of flowers or tomatoes.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

How do you freeze them? Don't they turn to mush?

I find peppers great for freezing - I chop them into cubes, ior strips or whatever, pop them in a bag and put them in the freezer. I don't tend to defrost before using however, just chuck straight into the pan when I want to use them.

Same for bell peppers as chilli peppers.

Ditto - I just slice, lay on a tray in the freezer and when frozen I bag them up. I also tend to add them to my cooking as they are.

If you want peppers to add to salads/tarts etc it's better to roast them and then store in glass jars.
