  • scab resistant potatoes

    next year i will be looking for a scab resistant variety. can anyone reccomend a tasty variety, maybe a 1st early and a 2nd early. this year i grew international kidney which suffered badly from scab. i did have joy with pentland javelin which were clean.

    My IK were a little scabby but the Lady Christal and the Foremost in the same row were clean, couldn't get hold of any sulpher this year so I tried super phosphate on the lates will see in a month or so wether this worked or not.

      Acidic soils are meant to be better for spuds.
      Adding grass clippings to the soil is supposed to prevent scab (although I always still get a bit, here on alkaline soil)

        Are red skinned spuds not supposed to have more scab resistance?
