  • layflat seep hose

When my stepfather was alive he used a black plastic seephose that seemed to be sold under the name 'layflat tubing'. This was not the heavy duty seephose I find now but a similar fabric to heavy duty bin liner plastic. It came in long rolls about 2 1/2" across and had very fine perforations all along. He would tie a knot in one end, attach the other to the hosepipe and it would lay the length of the plot he was watering and seep gently out.
Does anyone know if this is still available? I can only find clear plastic with no holes!

Most layflat hoses have disappeared - they tended to crack open at the crease and you had to roll them out completely to be able to use them. Don't know if that applies to your version.
You can most definately still buy layflat - used to be a trade mark (of ICI????), but it is a standard form of polythene sheeting in widths from a few cm to at least a couple of metres when flat.

Thanks for that, found and ordered. Just put in layflat and left out the tube and irrigation and found what I wanted. No holes but I will sew along the length with an empty needle in the sewing machine!
