What's wrong with drying it? That is the traditional method and works better than any other and concetrating and saving flavour. I dry mine on the soil for a few days then move them to the conservatory for final drying. They never get Plaited as we work through them throughout the summmer and autumn.Cider, Vegetables and Sussex sustainability blogged at www.ciderhousepress.com

I have just dug up my 67 garlic bulbs and dried them on a rack for a couple of days outside in the hot sun. I then read that they shouldn't be left in the sun due to them practically cooking. Does anyone know if this will affect how long they can be stored as I might struggle to get through that lot in a few months. I was hoping for at least 9 months of storage as they are softneck.Last edited by southern softie; 10-07-2009, 03:15 PM.

Thanks. I'll try that with the 300 onions I have! I will make sure I avoid direct sunlight from now on.Last edited by southern softie; 10-07-2009, 03:24 PM.
