Cucumbers that grow about an inch or so then turn yellow and die off is not uncommon. It could be linked to things like over watering, draughts, poor drainage, temperature etc etc...which is difficult to advise on.

The one common thing you might agree on is, are the cucumbers that die all attached to the main stem of the plant? I know it sounds daft but if you remove the cucumbers growing from the main stem you will, over time, get a couple to grow from side shoots. This also helps slow the cucumbers down so you get cucumbers over a longer period. It might just be a coincidence about main stem cucumbers dying off.....see what you think.

all the ones that are dying or have died on my plant are on the main stem... so might give it a go... although got loads growing off the main stem so this could be heartbreaking to take them off...
