    was wondering if anyone could help, whats the best way to get a long white stem on my leeks, i sowed the leeks in my greenhouse in january theyve really started growing now, is it best to earth them up or put somethig around them,

    You can earth them up, or put something round them - you could use toilet rolls, clay drainage pipes, lengths of plastic pipe. Earthing up has the advantage of also keeping them in firmer ground, all the better to withstand any wintry winds etc, whereas carboard may go soggy and rot.

      Digger, are you planning to keep the leeks in the greenhouse? They would be better in open ground if you have any

        If not growing for showing, any leeks sown in January should be ready to eat now.
        Depends on type i.e. Blanch or pot leeks as to what you do with them?

          no i planted them out in april onto my allotment theyve really started to grow now, thankyou for the advice.
